ok about a week and a half ago i was driving down the road and the truck started to shake and make all kinds of weird noises..... drove it home very easy and figured out it was my rear end making the noise so i pulled the cover off to see that i broke a total of 19 teeth off the ring gear and i belive 5 off the pinion gear... how i did it no clue... so the day goes on and i think to my self hmmm why not throw 4.10's in it since its an 8.8 posi rear and i have a 5.0 it will be alot like putting the gears in a 5.0 mustang... boy was i wrong the truck is back together now and is an animal BUT will not shift into
3rd gear if im driving it normal... for it to shift i have to drive very easy and cant go over 40... and when it shift i cant get into it at all... i have to accel very slow.. if i hit passing gear or anything it just acts like i threw it in Nuteral and am free reving...

anyone have a hint to an easy fix? im hoping i dont need to rebuild a trans..

even if i could find a ussed one i would go for it at this point

You know, I wonder if you shouldn't have some programming done so the PCM knows you have 4.10's. That is nothing more than an a guess...but if you change the gearing that much, the PCM may have trouble telling the trans when to shift. After all, you are running much higher RPM's for the same speeds.

My only other thought was something in your diff failed due to a failure in the trans.

Cobra mentioned this and got me thinking...if you disconnect the battery so that the computer has to re learn the shift points with the new gears installed? Maybe I'm way off base here as I'm just guessing too.

well aday after i got it runnning thebattery died... so i had to charge it ( took it out and charged it ) and still n help.... when im driving it seems that instead of going into 3rd then OD it goes
1st 2nd nutral and just free revs my dad says my trans is going and it has been acting up but not this bad untill i put it back together...
