ok so i think i got alittle ahead of myself... all the power wires match up as far as color codes but none of the speakers color codes match, actually i got no color matches.. does anyone know what color wires go with what speakers???
Danny

The color codes will probably not match up. You'll need to find the wires on the truck for the right front speaker (check the color code in the link above), then find the wires on the head unit for the same speaker (check the installation manual that came with the unit) and splice them together. Do the same for all of the speakers.
Double check the power wires too, just to make sure that they are correct.

I hope that this hasn't confused you too much.

hey thanks again for the help but it just aint working....
ive never had so many problems hooking up a radio. power lines are all good i got power to the radio but no sound outta the speakers. does the 95 xlt come with a stock amp??? and if so does it have to be hooked up? i didnt connect the blue remote line could that be the problem? i am about ready to say screw it and just run new speaker wires
Thanks again
Danny

Does your truck have a factory amplifier if so youll either need to run new speaker wire from your speaker or bypass your amp. Also make sure your headunits good my last install id already rewired the speakers and got no sound. Headunit lit up like it should but there was no ouptut coming from the headunit thus i got no sound.

oh man tell me all this time it was a bad head unit......lol:rolleyes:
heres a dumb question how do i know it my truck has a factory amp and if it does how can i bypass it??

If he does have the factory amp, there's another much easier option where you just integrate the amp in, although it's technically not ideal.. Reason being, you're amplifying an already amplified signal.. But if you have your EQ's set good and you don't crank the volume, it will sound totally fine..

To the original poster - did you get a harness? I'm guessing no, since you're having problems wondering which wire is which.. A harness would have made this so much easier (even with the factory amp), and the funny thing is I actually have a spare 95-97 harness sitting right here, lol..

Anyway, I've been thru this problem quite a few times on here with this 95-97 model range, cuz I went thru the SAME thing a few months back.. Last time I really got into it with someone, and I'm pretty sure you can find the info you need in this thread.. In the 2nd/3rd pages I think is where I got into exactly which wires are which.. And even if they are different colors, I identified them my their actual position.. Here's the thread, go check it out, good luck: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274377

hey thanks for the reply. nope i didnt get the harness have hooked up more then a few radio before and when the store didnt have the right harnes i said screw it i got this no problem..... well little did i know:rolleyes:
any way after quite a bit of searching and alittle luck i got sound. now i just need to find the correct speaker wires and i think the above link did the trick im at work now untill 6 so hopefully by 7 i'll have tunes lol
thanks again for all the help
Danny
oh by the way it was the amp. as soon as i hooked up the remote power wire it worked and since i just wanna hear some music (im not tring to get crazy with this) i think using it this way will be fine for now

yup you can definitely use it like that as long as you're careful with the volume.. i had mine like that for a while with no problems at all.. glad the link helped
