Ok guys,

I cleaned my MAS and she runs SO MUCH better now.

New problem though. The performance bug has bitten REALLY HARD!

If I could get some input to performance exhast systems that you use, that would be great. I have noticed that most seem to have Borla or Flowmaster. Is there a specific reason for that?

Here is an idea of what I want to do.

1. KKN or K&N intake system.
2. Performance exhaust. Any suggestions?
3. 2 " suspension lift. I already have 265 R70 16 Cooper Discoverer H/T on the truck. And they rub the torsion bar. :fire:
4. Westin Safari Bar is on the way as are 2 PIAA 520 lights.

I just want to have a simple truck that can get me through some of the trails that my buddies cottage has around it. My Taurus wagon didn't like the trip last year.

Is this a good start for a small trail truck?
All input is greatly appreciated.

P.S. I realize this question has probably been asked a million times.

1 I like the KKM - mainly for the price
2 I would have your local muffler shop make you a custom cat back system

Good luck....

Ok, thanks Aldive. But know I need to ask what size tubing for the exhaust. My hotrod has 3" all the way back to the mufflers. (no Cats and no not street legal). Is 3" too big or would 2.5" be better. I am not looking for a hotrod truck, just a better breathing engine.

Or should I just take it to a local speed shop and let them rape me for quality product. I really don't want a clamped exhaust system. I would prefer a flanged and gasketed system.

Any suggestions?

I don't think you mentioned what motor you had, but, on my 4.0 SOHC, I have 2 1/2" all the way from cat to tip/

I recommend a completely welded system, no clamps, no flanges,

Oops, my bad. Sorry. I have the 4.0 SOHC.

and a welded system with 2.5" eh? sounds good. Is it all stainless (or zinc plated steel so it doesn't rot) or aluminum?

Mine is 1.5" standard steel. Been over a year with no troubles.

Ok great. Thanks a ton guys. Since I have today off, i am going to start shopping around for a system. Thanks for your time.
