Hi everyone! I just became an Explorer owner a few days ago, but explored this site before I began my search. Like the boards I'm on for my other cars (96 Tbird 4.6, 93 Grand Marquis 4.6), this one came through with a lot of great tips and insider knowledge thanks to the experts willing to share their know-how! So first off....thanks!
My X is a 96 XLT 2WD with 100K on the clock, 5.0, trailer pkg with posi, white with grey leather, sunroof, pretty well loaded. I bought it locally from the second owner, crawled all around it and reviewed the maintenance records before I drove it. The test drive was a real pleasure. It drove like new - everything was tight, smooth and predictable. This and the excellent condition it's in convinced me to buy it. The deal was sealed by my wife giving it thumbs up after a test drive.
I hope to post a few questions not answered in previous threads, and maybe even answer a few. I've been turning wrenches for over 30 years and rebuild/hotrod Ford and Chevy V8's for fun. I've also had numerous 5.0 fords in various cars over the years. My daughter also has a 2001 Sport 4.0 OHC.
