I was just tooling around on Ebay and ran across an air ride compressor used for cars in the 80's. Would this be a good center point for doing an on board air mod???

The other compressor was going for around $30, I also found this York going for around $100. It's outta my price range for the time being so jump on it.Dead Link Removed

Does it list the max. pressure output/volume those put out? I highly doubt they are high PSI compressors:(

How much pressure would be needed?

I know it sounds kinda dumb, but on an old episode of junkyard wars, they made a compressed air-powered golfball canon. They used the York A/C compressor on the van to pump up the tank, which got up to at least 80psi as I recall, maybe it went as high as 110. I dont know how long it could do it, though. If somehow you could make it work, I would try to find a smaller/lighter/more efficient Sanden compressor like on our Xs.

I used to use the York compressor head for my workshop air compressor and I found that it had an almost unlimited psi capacity. I had no problems making 150 psi at all, and with a single York head on powered by a 1 HP industrial (read that large) motor it would sort of keep up with some air tools. I would have to wait for the compressor some when using a DA or die grinder, 1/2 inch guns were no problem.

I later went to a tandem York setup - still driven by the 1 HP motor (they seem to take way less HP than a standard air compressor) and made a lot of air - enough to spray paint.

Just some back yard mechanic stuff but I hope it helps.

The air ride air compressors don't have the cfm or duty cycle for a good OBA system. Do whatever you can to use the York.

not to be rude but if you already know what a sanden is try reading more to learn more on them.

You know there's a thread already started on here about this very thing. But hey cool idea Alaskajack.
