Hi there, can someone please point me to the right thread about installing daytime running lights on my '05 XLT. I noticed some posts said the dealer can do it by using their computer, where as others have said you must buy the parts and you can DIY. I know the '06+ models are done at the dealer. I have been reading some threads, but I haven't come across someone with the same truck, just F150.

My '05 already has the fuse installed, and I know where the relay is supposed to go, but there is nothing for the relay to be connected to; I know because I tried to place another relay there. Let me be clear, the truck is ready for DRLs but nothing to connect the relay to.

I know this question may have already been answered and I apologize, but if someone could just place a link where I can go directly to the info, that would be great.

??? I don't know. (Just letting you know someone reads this stuff)

Well?

Anyone, anyone? What about my fellow Canucks who have done this before? Any tips?

Thanks;)

what has the main dealer said? have you tried an auto electrician?

Do you know of any good workshops by where you are that might be able to help?

I'm in England, so can't offer much help. but it'd be useful to know cos apparently I'll need to get my Explorer fitted with DRL's when I bring it over..

Did you Google DRLs? I know a number of places sell them.

The truck is ready for DRLs but nothing to connect the relay to.

Sounds like it's almost ready for DRL's. lol

If you have a manual find where the wires going to the relay should be coming from, go find them elsewhere, and route them to your relay.

Looking at some wiring diagrams for the '05, it looks like you need to install a DRL module if you don't already have one (guessing you don't if it doesn't come that way from the factory). The diagram I'm looking at says it would be along the left fendewell of the engine compartment. It would have a connector with 6 wires coming out of it.

Unfortunately, the diagrams don't give me any part numbers or any pictures of the module -- just where it is and what's connected to it.

HTH.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the several responses. I ended up buying a DRL kit here in Canada and I found a guy who has installed them before. He is going to show me how it's done so that if I import another vehicle, I can do it myself.

Thanks again everyone.
