I've been doing lots of research on different tires for my 97 Explorer. I've finally narrowed my search down to two tires, both in the standard 235/75/r15 size.

BFG AT KO or the Yokohama Geolandar AT plus 2's

Which tire will last longer? I do mostly street driving except in the winter when I might have to go through some light snow. What would you buy (or have Ford buy) for that matter.

Also, what is the difference between the Geolandar AT, Geolander AT plus, and Geolandar AT plus 2?

Thanks

normally, the tire names correspond as being a revised edition..... like the geolander[probably no longer made] was repalced by the + [also probably no longer made] then the current #2s....

id say to get the bfgs...they perform flawlessly in a wide multi-surfaced arena... i think the yokos are a softer compound and wont last as long

Yoko vs. BFG

Go to www.tirerack.com. Click on and compare those BFG's and the Yokohama's. I think that you will find that the Yoko's will outperform the BFG's. I am getting ready in the next 2 weeks or so to order those Yoko's. They are only $97 a piece on that site and delivery for 5 tires only runs $52. You can even have them delivered to a local tire dealer and have them put them on for you. Check out that site, I think it will be worth your time. Let me know what you do.

I didn't even see the BFG's on tire rack's site. Only the long trails and the MT's.

I would be willing to bet that the BFG is just about the most popular tire on this site.
