I just noticed that our 2008 Eddie Bauer Explorer has the auto one touch down for the driver side window. I thought that this generation explorer had one touch up and down windows. If so, our one touch up is not working.

I don't think that is the case. I think it is just one-touch down - only.

It has annoyed me too. Why only one direction? I've owned cars with one touch windows that work both ways and it is a MUCH better feature.

When we were looking for cars, I know the 2010 had the one touch up and down. I thought I remembered reading in the owners manual that the 2008 had a one touch up and down also.

one touch up and down are available for sure in 2010 in all trims

I tried to install the 2010 buttons on my 2008 but the harness was deferent and they won't work :(

ah ok. I could swear that the owners manual said it was both. Time to go out to the car again....

Hey guys,

The 2008 Explorer did have the option to have the up/down power driver’s window. The 2008 Explorer Owner Guide 3rd Printing on page 105 states:

One touch up (if equipped) or down (Driver’s window only)
This feature allows the driver’s window to open or close fully without holding the control down.
To operate ONE TOUCH DOWN:
• Press the switch completely down to the second detent and release quickly. The window will open fully. Momentarily press the switch to any position to stop the window operation.
If the switch is pressed and held to the normal close or ONE TOUCH UP (if equipped) position during a ONE TOUCH DOWN event, the window will stop. If, after 1/2 second the switch is still held, the window will perform a normal close or ONE TOUCH UP (if equipped).
To operate ONE TOUCH UP (if equipped):
• Pull the switch completely up to the second detent and release quickly. The window will close fully. Momentarily press the switch to any position to stop the window operation.
If the switch is pressed and held to the normal open or ONE TOUCH DOWN position during a ONE TOUCH UP event, the window will stop. If, after 1/2 second the switch is still held, the window will perform a normal open or ONE TOUCH DOWN.

If you don’t have your own copy, you can download a free digital version of the Owner Guide by going to the URL http://Owner.Ford.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Owner/Page/OwnerGuidePage and choosing your vehicle from the drop down menus.

Is there a way to tell if my explorer has that option or not? It says Auto on the driver side front window switch but is only Auto going down and not going up.

It’s most likely that yours is only 1-touch down then, Brian. You can always check with your dealer to be sure it’s working like it should.

The Electrician,

I recommend editing your post to remove your VIN because it could be considered private info.

I’m not a technician, so I recommend talking to your dealer so they can look into that for you.

Ya Ford made us 2010 owners even lazier with the one up one down. However, I will say sometimes you have to fight with your window when you are simply trying to crack the window.
