So last weekend I replaced the bolts and donut gasket between the y-pipe and the rest of the exhaust on my 06 v8. That fixed the annoying rattling sound I though was coming from one of the mufflers inside. Strangely, there was no sign of the old gasket, and the bolts were a pain to cut.
Anyway, when I was there, I looked at all studs, and I only have one broken: passenger side, upper row, first from the fire wall. And actually, you can access that one with a drill and easy out, so I may try it myself. But the ticking noise is quite noticeable, so my question is: can you have the ticking sound with just one stud snapped ? Or the manifolds can be warped with studs still in place.
And a million $ question: anybody knows a good shop that can do it in Northern NJ, or Rockland County NY ?
