I realized I started this in the wrong area, but what type of bolts for shackles? grade 5 or 8?

What diameter 1/2"? I can't imagine that a grade 5 would not be strong enough, but I guess when in dought a g.8 would work. There are times just because a bolt is stronger does not allways mean that's the right one. Some co. that make explosion proof bellhousings for example do not want you to run a real high tensil strength bolt. I don't know if tensil is the right word. But any way they want the bolt to bend rather then snap off like a higher grade bolt at the engine/bellhousing connection if in the event of a clutch explosion. At least that was in the old days.

hmm. true, going to use 9/16" so grade 5 will probably be fine, I just wanted to run it past others who may have opinions, in case its one of those, GOOD LORD MAN, DON'T DO THAT, sort of information.. I'd hate to have a major oops over a simple thing like not asking a question.
