Hey Everyone, just want some feedback on the 2000 model year Premium Audio System. What do you guys think of this stock system? I'm planning on changing the speakers but keeping the H/U. Or should I just junk everything and install all aftermarket stuff?

junk it all :fart:

I had taken this all out of my truck essentially (98 sport, same system). The difference between stock and even just the cheapest aftermarket is impressive, but of course I'd recommend you do it right the first time. In the words of terdrocket, junk it all. :)

Without a doubt all aftermarket is better but I if you just upgrade your speakers to good efficient ones, to make best use of limited stock power, you will get much improved sound and if you decide to junk the rest of it later you still can use your new speakers. I did what you are thinking about. I replaced speakers only. Then added amps and sub, then replaced head units. This method resulted in better sound at each step and wasted more time than money (about $50 in wiring). Of course it is a sickeness and each improvement will leave you wanting more. The main reason I ditched the stock HU was because at high volumes the bass is rolled off to limit distortion. This made me nuts as I adjusted bass everytime I adjusted volume.
