The context
Last night, I took my 2007 Explorer XLT for a bit of off-roading to celebrate the oil change. I didn't do anything too crazy, as it's 2WD. Nothing damaging seemed to happen during our exploration. On the way home, we had an open highway, so I exhibited some high speed momentarily. Again, no signs of damaging anything.
The problem
The next moringing, I started it, and I was greeted with a new light: an orange wrench. A few moments later, my new orange friend left and I reached for my manual to discover his reason for showing. Powertrain fault. The light didn't come back until the next time I started the engine. Again, it only stayed for a few moments, then left. Nothing seemed different while driving; normal power, normal shifting.
The questions
Could this be related to the oil change, off-roading (with miniscule water contact), or high speed? Is this light likely to behave this way for no alarming reason? Is the problem likely to solve itself or become worse?
Thanks for any help or opinions!
