its funny but I didnt know what you were talking about because its in lower case...cai looks different than CAI

funny

waste of money.

lol yea it does look a little funny like that.but yea why is it a waste of money.i mean i agree its a little pricey.im sure i can get a cold air intake a lot cheaper.in fact i know i can.i just always liked how the volant seals its filter away from the engine heat.

I've got one and i love it, great choice.

Its NOT a waste of money, its a fine product.

That person is just talkin outta his a$$, he's probably jealous.

"Overkill" = I'm jealous because I can't afford that.
Haha.

ok i thought it was a great product.thanks for the support guys! i can't wait until it comes.it should be here monday since i ordered it wedsnday.i'll let ya'll know how i like it after i get it installed.

Agreed. You will not even see 1/4th of they gains they claim. My 2.9 uses the same filter as a 5.0HO and 7.5 V8, I'm sure the 4.0 filter is not much different, it's not as restrictive as people make them out to be.

congrads on ordering ur new cai it looks nice

It's not the filter that makes the intake restrictive, it's the box.

Quit saying it's a waste of money. They do help slightly in mileage, and performance a little bit..

I'm sure the Volant is tons better than the stock setup which is a joke.
What next, are you guys going to say the TMH are hardly better than the stock manifolds? This is his vehicle, he can do with it what he wants, as long as he's happy.. that's all that matters.
I think this intake will be a nice addition to his truck. Price isn't always what it's about. If he's going to do some exhaust work later on.. it never hurts to open the intake up a little bit.. even if he's not.. it helps a little bit. A little is better than nothing.

Be sure to post a followup on how this CAI works out for you. I want to get one soon but I'm still debating whether I want the K&N or the Volant.

The Volant intakes are one of the best. They are one of the only TRUE cold air intakes. So what if everyon else thinks it is a waste of money. You may not get exactly what they say you will but it will be close. The research that they have put in to it makes it worth it. They are one of the best if not the best.

I agree.

The only negative thing I've heard about the Volant CAI's is that they don't fit quite like they should. There are 2 reviews on this site that say so. Although I believe they were both on the SOHC engine and they were from a while ago, so hopefully the problem has been corrected. I hope so, because I've been leaning more towards the Volant but if it doesn't have an exact fit then I think I'll pass, I'm not real good with fabbing stuff up.

thanks for the input and backing it up man! i appreciate it! but your right, its my truck and i am happy with it and everything i do to it.i really dont think im going to get 18 horse power out of it.but like you said,a little bit is something.plus i do got my exhaust opened up a lot better than stock.thanks again for your thoughts.

yes i will for sure to post my thoughts and info on it when i get it installed.i was debating between the k&n and volant also.i love k&n,but really like how the volant keeps its filter away from the engine heat.

Yeah, that's the same thing I was thinking. Plus, someday I want to put a snorkel on my Explorer and I think the Volant air box would be easy to modify for that.

i agree 100% right now i only got a autozone red filter on a adapter plate on the end on my stock intake.well its mounted on the adapter to the mass air flow sensor.it has a real throaty sound though when you get on it.im sure the volant with its filter out of the engine heat and the flow of the air should be better through both the volant filter and the volant intake tube.
