For the 1995 to 1997 Outside ambient air temperature sensor for the overhead console are no longer available. The 1998 and newer (2008), maybe newer are all the same.
I ordered a replacement sensor and received the new sensor (standard Part# tx12). Too used this sensor you need to order the plug pigtail also. I removed my sensor and tested it.
When remove from the connector , the overhead display indicates OC . I measure the resistant of the sensor. It rang out fine. Its just a capillary tube on the 95-97 model. As i move the sensor from a horizontal to vertical position , show a open circuit. But it started, working again. The 99 explorer sport the sensor is located on the passenger side front. On 2003 mountaineer, 2008 explorer and the 95 explorer, the sensor is located on the driver side front.
