over 100mph in an explorer

I had to do a cross country trip in 4 days, CA to MA. I'm pretty sure i was cruising along at 95 for most of the trip, and my car handled great! I even had a tire issue I found out later, so it might not have been the smartest thing to do.

Glad to hear from other people. What engine do you have Liska? V6 or V8?

I actually drove through New Mexico again back in December and had my cruise set on 90mph for two entire tanks of gas. The explorer was loaded with five people, trunk loaded and skis on the roof too. Ex handled great as always.

It's a V6.:)

I actually spun my Ex out, twice-once in dry weather trying to avoid hitting a car, and once in ice. It didn't tip, fall over, and i didn't come away from it with anything except neededing a wheel alignment. Not an idea situation, but I LOVE my car.

nbo, i wasn't going above 100, actually 40 something, but, hell :D

I did take my explorer up to a 100 once. (since the speedo only goes to 85, for reference I had needle down to the "D" on the gear selector) Red did not like that at all. Lots of wind noise, hard steering and pedal nearly to the floor. Not to mention that little sucker drained an 1/8th of my tank doing that stunt.

Probably not something I would do again. I have always believed every vehicle has a sweet spot, a perfect mix between what the transmission, the engine, the suspension and the drive train can handle at a given speed. You get your best gas mileage there and everything feels smooth. For the Explorer it was about 60-65 mph. The Dodge's is 65-70 mph.
