Hello out there!
We are having a tough winter here in NJ.
At low highway speed (due to snow/ice) my truck keeps switching from 5th to 4th gear.
But my O/D isn't working: how do I troubleshot it? I heard it is known that explorers pinch the O/D wiring by the steering column, creating the problem,
Can anyone comment ,please?
Thank you

I'm not sure what you mean. If your truck is switching from 5th to 4th, then your OD is working, because 5th is OD. It could also be that your lockup torque converter is locking and unlocking making it feel like you're coming in and out of O/D. That would be something completely different. When was the last time you changed the transmission fluid and filter?

Thank you Galactica,
What I mean is that I'd like to turn O/D off and lock out the 5th gear, and drive in 4th gear only, thus avoiding unnecessary up and down shifting. Also, when cruising in snow and ice, I feel more control in 4th gear ....
But I can't: I push the o/d button and nothing happens, no ligh goes on, nothing...
