i know another dreaded OHC thread. i have one of the two common issues associated with this mod. the temp is way off. i have gone to the yard and tried three OHC units and four different temp sensors i have tried every combination recalibrated on every setup and not once did the temp get anywhere near the 80 degree temps we have had recently. im tired of driving in circles and getting no where. i have opened every unit and none smell of burnt electrics also none have loose components. im at a huge loss here and im getting tired of not having a nice OHC.

i know that the thermometer is nothing more than a thermistor (a variable resistor that fluctuates with temp) but i have no idea where to get one and what range to get i am electrically inclined and can build my own sensor if i only knew the range.

please someone point me in the right direction

I suppose you have read sensor voltages over a varying temp range. I know of nowhere to get the info you wish though.

yeh i read resistances i even resorted to putting a lighter to one sensor and it did not fluctuate just sat at a standard temp.

I have an overhead console "kit" and I'll check resistances on my sensor tomorrow ........ if I can remember to do it. Too many irons in the fire leads to a bad case of CRS !

whenever you get to it great no rush on it. hell your not far from me i could always make a trip to denver

That's Denver NORTH CAROLINA. Of course on one of those Thunderbirds it may still not be far ........

mach 1.25 so approximately 980 MPH in an aircraft that weights on average 240,000LBS

You're getting bad sensors. In my reasonably scientific experiment I found my sensor to vary ohms with temps as follows.
TEMP OHMS
48 6.3
58 5.2
68 4.0
78 3.1
88 2.5
98 2.0

First reading was on the 8's so I just continued with that. It was done by varying water temperature with the end of the sensor immersed.

thanks for the stats there steve

Well ........ at least I know mine is good! :D
