I have a 2007 Explorer XLT. I want to install two overhead DVD players that flip down. My question is: How do I screw the unit into the overhead? Is it double plated so the screw will not pop out the top? Is there ribs in certain places that I need to hit? Anybody done this and have some advice to give me?

Thanks

Its a tough one...I don't know many that have gone that far with it. i plan on doing an over head dvd player set up for my boys. I think Im going to leave this one to the pros though.

Do you have a moon roof or not?

I am comming from being a professional installer for over 10 years. this is how we would do it.

1. drop headliner
2. attach a thin piece of mdf/plywood (1/4" or so) between 2 roof braces (usually one front and mid)
3. run wiring
4. put headliner back up
5. attach the screen to the wood sandwiching the headliner between the wood and the screen.
6. test it, enjoy a beer, and watch some movies

make sure you only use screws at a length that you know will not go through the roof at all.

Thanks that is the info I needed. Pop the headliner it is the rest is easy(-;

On a disclaimer note, be CAREFUL on the length of screw you use. I have seen and heard of people going throught the roof...
