1998 Ford Ranger
I have a 1998 Ford Ranger. My overdrive light sarted flashing about 40K, I now have 120K. I have never taken it in to find the problem. The light started to flash often (usually anytime I drove more than 5 miles or so). The only result was some hard shifting after the flashing light appeared. Fianally I was showing a constant check engine light. A P1740 code was coming up upon a routine inspection attempt. After reading some bulletins, I pulled the Transmission pan, and replaced the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid (on the drivers side after you pull the pan). I put everything back together and went for a short test run only to find out that I did not have reverse and drive and felt some slipping. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or what might be going on?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmission section. Connect a 0-300 PSI gauge to test the main pressure & EPC pressure. You might have a failing EPC solenoid or bad valve body gaskets. Did you check the internal wiring harness to see if any wires are broken?
