OVERHEAD CONSOLE REGIONS

I have just put the overhead console into a 91 XLT. I think I have 98 + console as I have green numbers. My question is could someone post the region codes for the compass. I have searched all the threads but can't seem to find the region codes.

For what region do you need the code?

All I have for a 98 is europe codes which are:

7 = Finland
8 = Germany, Italy, Austria, Norway, Sweden and Denmark
9 = France, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium
10 = Portugal, Great Britain and Ireland

Sorry but my UK handbook is somewhat biased.

I see. I am in San Diego California ( sorry should have mentioned that!). I wonder if Europe and USA are different.

I read in one of the other posts that ca was 9 in the us. Try searching for compass.

Doug you are the MAN!!! So it looks like San Diego Should be region 4 or 5 kewl mine is set to 8 I think!

I can post some pics but they would only be of the console fitted!( I may get brave and post some fitting ones as well, means some reverse engineering though) I had some probs fitting the console to the 91 as there was no space for it. I got around this by putting some 1/4 inch ply wood behind the liner. I had to remove the light display from the compass cluster to screw into the plywood, then drilled so I could screw into the roof cross member as well. The black shroud seems to go back ok with out all the retaining screws and with the light cluster. I will try and pop some pictures up tonight.

I have test fitted an overhead console on the truck with sunroof and it fits... there is no problem there... as you all know some of the consoles out there for sale have the sunroof switch in them... they are all the same... I don't see why your's won't fit.

BTW.... what kind of pictures are you looking for? I just installed console in my 94... without a glitch except for missing wiring plug....

Dre, on the older X's (91 - 92) there are no mount points for the bracket or the spring tabs on the console. it takes a bit of bodging to get it in there but when you do it all looks ok. After the 92 X's they had the holes etc for the console in place

I have not tried it on any other truck other than my 94 Sport... so far I have no idea how it's gonna work.... truck still on jackstands... but lights and display work OK so far....... need any pics? lemekno
