First Gen Overhead Console

I searched and was not able to turn up alot of details, is it possible to make an overhead console from the 2nd gens fit in to a 1994 first gen? I figure the only conflict it can have is fit because the only electronics are for lights, compass, and temperature which should not matter by the year of the truck.

Any details of this or anything would be great, thanks.

Yes you can, I believe the 93 and 94 had the overhead wires installed although there was not console. Its been done, but I can't remember who or when.

If I were you I would look for a 1994 Limited. They had the overhead console and all the wiring you need, and it will fit up just right.

I do not know if non-Limited trucks had the wiring. I just know that 1994 Limiteds had it all.

Thanks for the advice. I could easily see buying a console only to find it does'nt fit anything!!

Not quite sure on price (I've seen some $25 e-bay deals)
Just remember that if you can't find a '94 one, the newer ones will still work.

PJ, we just seem to be taking on the same projects around the same time. i just bought me an overhead console off ebay, and should be getting it next week. havent bought the wiring yet for it. i have a 92, so i wont have the predrilled holes or slot for the mounting bracket, but it shouldnt be that hard.

What was the year of the overhead console you got?

Unfortunately, my projects may be coming to an end:
(Somewhat) ironically, a guy in an Exp ran a red light and hit myself and another car... :roll: :roll:
His is a write-off for sure, but I'm waiting to hear from my insurance co about mine...
Good possibility all my work is now gone

Where are you going to get the wiring from? a dealer or through ebay again?
