ok this has me pretty pissed about now seeming how ive tried all the basics but still not better. this is the deal,i have a 91 4dr 4x4, i went to tow my trailer the other day (starting out my trip home, 16 hours away) when i forgot my trailer spare so i drove around the block and got my spare loaded, got in the truck then noticed it was getting the temp getting hot , so i drove a bit more to see what was the deal and it only got hotter(imagine that huh) ha anyway,so i got on the interstate and it cooled down just a tad but still about three times than normal. this happened just out of the blue. this is what i have done so far: i checked my fluids again, then i decided to do a flush, then i replaced the thermostat with a 197 Ford thermostat. still not better. cleaned the front and back grill part of the radiator, put in some "Water Wetter", flow looks ok,changed the cap, still boils over. so im pretty ticked off. so ANY suggestions i am open to. thanks ahead.

You might try disconnecting a heater hose and start the engine just to verify the water pump is working. You might even want to bypass your heater core to see if it makes any difference.

You could disconnect both lines and hook them directly together. Another thing you could try is removing the thermostat all together and see if that takes care of your problem.

I would probably first remove the thermostat and run with out it for a day and see if it runs any cooler. You could just have a defective thermostat.

It could also be possible you have a cracked head or blown head gasket. The possibilities are endless.

i had a similar situation, tried a buch of stuff, to no avail....finally turned out to be the fan clutch. the fan was turning, but not near as fast as it should have been. (i couldn't tell, i wound up taking it to a shop, they replaced the fan clutch and poof...no more overheating) hope this helps.

I know you said you washed the front and back of the radiator, but did you just rinse it? Sometimes after driving through lots of dust or mud it can clog your radiator. Use a garden hose and put your thumb over the end to get some pressure and really try to blast out all the junk. If you do this, don't use a pressure washer or you'll take a few chunks out of the radiator. I know you're not that dumb, but it's just a reminder. Hope this helps.
