P0401 code on 96 Explorer 5.0L

Well I have the truck for almost a year and I got my first CEL this weekend. The truck has 142K on it and other than a noisey power steering pump, it runs great. I hooked up my scanner and the only code was P0401 - low exhaust flow to EGR. I've read some posts and I'm wondering if its the actual valve or the sensor. What seems to be the most common cause? From the location of the EGR valve, it looks like a PITA to replace.

Any suggestions?

Look very close at the vacuum lines going to egr valve, they rott and fall apart.

I was thinking of that too. It's happened 3 times so far, all under different conditions.
