The brake/ABS lights come on when there's other problems in the system, usually low fluid. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir, and you might also want to check the front and rear hoses/lines, and the calipers/drums for any drips or leaks.

when my ABS light came on it ended up being a bad sensor. On top of the rear differential sits the ABS sensor, that might be your culprit as well. I believe it's just held in by a 10mm bolt.

Bump. Any firm resolution on this for the OP?

Mine just started doing exactly the same thing. The parking brake light comes one even after being released and then when I come to a stop, the rear ABS light comes on, too. When I accelerate after the stop, both light go out for a while, then come on again. I don't feel the brakes dragging so I was thinking about a sensor or maybe a slightly stuck brake shoe. But is there just the one sensor for ABS on the diff? Could that account for the parking brake light, too? Thanks!

Rob

I don't know if the abs is linked to this, but on my X, the parking brake sensor/button thing at the end of the pedal was sticking, and causing the brake light to come on and off. I removed the bulb for the abs some time ago, as I found it annoying to be on all the time (my abs hasn't worked since I've owned the truck), so like I said I don't know if the abs light would come on with the brake light.
