Hi all,
Working on my niece's '97 4.0 SOHC explorer xlt. 4x4 and 4lo lights flashing...
Google says check the rear drive shaft hall sensor which I just pulled out. Looks like the last shop that worked on it BROKE the plastic tab that secures it to the t-case and then tried to glue the sensor in place with silicon. Given how I found things, I'm sure the sensor was out of position causing the fault.
I have read that others have replaced the sensor, but I'm having no luck finding it...looks like the sensor goes straight to the main connector for the engagement motor.
Is this really available separately? Anyone have a part number or good source?

I ended up buying it from the stealership so I can get it out of my driveway ASAP....$112 with tax.
The part number for you future searchers is SW-5645 & 1L2Z-7F293-AB
Turns out you CAN get it at Rockauto for 1/2 the price I just paid. Search the SW#...

First, don't trust what Google "says", it's coming from some ####### on the internet. imp
