Part on drive shaft making grinding noise

i need to know what this part is. I'm looking up parts online and nothing even comes close to looking like this. 02 mountaineer v8, video below

Just remove it before it causes a big issue
 






That's the balancing ring for your driveshaft. It's supposed to be an integral part of it.

It can be cut off with a cutting wheel on your angle grinder, but that is some hard steel and it will take a while and run through discs. It might be easier to remove the driveshaft and simply let it drop off, but I think the driveshaft has External-Torx, or 12- or 8-point bolts, which might need special sockets that you don't have.

You may have driveline imbalance problems without it, but no more than you already have with it being unattached.
