I had a bad cluck from the front of my X while wheeling last weekend and I discovered the front outer u-joint on passenger side is shot. From what I read it’s a pain the pull the shaft on that side because you have to remove the pumpkin…? Can the shaft be pulled from the slip so I don’t have to pull the whole shaft to change that outer u-joint?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, you can remove the axle shaft from the stub without having to remove the stub shaft from the differential. You'll have to cut off the boot clamps to get it to separate and you'll need clamps to replace them with. The stub shaft doesn't have "blind" splines, so you'll have to align the yoke ears to get it to go all the way in.
