2007 Mercury Mountaineer
Hello everyone. I have the ugly cousin of the Ford Explorer, a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer with the 4.0L V6.
Last week I replaced the coolant hose that feeds from the heater control valve into the thermostat housing. Simple job. While doing the job, I know I knocked the PCM Green Wire that leads from the alternator to the PCM. Immediately after starting the engine, it started to throw the P0620 code out. I can find a replacement alternator wiring harness, but I cannot locate a part number or proper description of the single pin 5V green wire that plugs into the alternator. The connection is very sloppy, and it looks frayed. I'd like to replace it to see if that is the cause of my issues.

Does anyone know where I could locate a replacement?

The connection that I circled. Not the one I marked with an X (I found that at the auto parts store).

Ford used that same single wire connector on many models with a 2g,3g & 4g alternator.
Grab a handful next time you visit a salvage yard.

Does that loose wire cause the "Check Charging System" light to go on?

My '07 Explorer, 4.0 has a loose connection at THAT connection in your photo. Multimeter shows 14.3 volts at the battery when running, but my "Check Charging System" warning light goes on every 10 minutes on the 10 minutes.

How hard is it to replace that wire?
