so the code b1845 came up I'ved done everything I can do mechanically I checked the fuse and I get it click every time I try starting it . The click originates from the pcm relay. I switched it with a similar one but same result s.

What year truck? Do you have another key and if so have you tried using it?

It's a 2001 Explorer sport no spare key just the one. The code reader did say it was an ignition issue but when looking at the fuses you can feel n hear the pcm power relay click

So the truck does run? Or just turns over but won't start?

Looks like a non-specific PATS code, maybe look at the transceiver module around the key cylinder in the steering column. I've read where someone stated it went away if they disconnected the battery, but I don't like that kind of "fix", in that it doesn't tell you why or if the problem will come back.

  • Not real certain about 2nd. gen, but 3rd. have Vehicle Security Module which communicates with all theft-related items such as door locks, ajar, and PATS Transceiver. Other posts have suggested that 2nd. gens PATS did NOT disable cranking, but rather injectors only (3rd. gens disable everything). Can't confirm, but if true, no crank leads away from the Transceiver and suggests possible Security Module failure. Just a few thoughts. imp

^ Asegu already has another topic where it was mentioned that '01 sports built after 7/24/00 have the newer PATS with the starter interrupt feature. Granted it could be a pre-7/24/00 sport with a 3rd party starter disabler, but then it shouldn't cause the PATS light to flash trying to start it.
