could you guys with a '95+ explorer please do me a favor and tell me the size of the bolts that hold on the skids. i happened upon some today in the salvage yard today and got em for a hell of a price $40 for both the transfer and gas tank skid! :p

Sorry I can't give you the size I used, but all I did was go to the hardware store and get the thickest bolt I could fit into the smallest mounting hole on the plates. 8 bolts, 16 washers, 8 lockwashers, and 8 nuts. Sorry I can't be of much help, but if it fits, it'll work!

your ok with some pretty short bolts. i have a variety holding mine it.. the shortest being 1", not including the bolt head.

nope... well unless you just want to pay more.

alright i got them on, i used 5/16" bolts with a 1/2" head, still used washers and lock washers. but some of those bolts are REALLY hard to get to. not to mention you have to have 2 people to put in the gas tank skid cause te things so big!

I put the gas skid on without help, or a jack

Did get some nice marks on my forehead from holding it up though :hammer:
