Within the next few weeks I will be trying to find out this very question. I'll be replacing some of the PIAA's on my F-150's with lightforces (three pairs of lightforces, one in each size they offer) and putting them through a variety of tests (quality of light, distribution of light, durability, etc.) and I've promised both companies to be completely objective.
I am really looking forward to this, this is the type of stuff us light geeks go for, LOL.

YOu *******! did you get a sponce by lightforce also ?

How do you work that and how can i get in on it ?

no I am not sponsored by Lightforce, I am still sponsored by PIAA. That came after a conversation that last about an hour and a half with the employees of lightforce at the SEMA show.

LOL umm... thats a negatory :). The loser's lights will be dealt with accordingly, LOL

Hella :D Anyway I think it would be hard to call. I would like to know the differences between the durability of the lights (like a drop test or a :hammer: test LOL) And the quality of the components used in the lights. Keep us posted.

Ummm, Matt are you going to drive over your Piaa's like Lee did to his Lightforce? That was impressive, kinda sold me on Lightforce. For now I'm stuck with my 15 yr. old Bosch set. Hint hint:D

Well driving over them is one of the potential tests :).

Look at it like this though Matt.... I had the confidence in Lightforce from day one that I drove over them. Don't you wish you could say the same for the Piaa! :P

I've said it several times to ya, the largest sizes are going to be about the same in the light, if anything the Lightforce will shine farther, but the Piaa will shine wider. Thus the wide angle lens. Can't wait...

BTW... who did you talk to at Sema? Was it Scott? If so I've gotta yell at him. He kept saying that he'll convert you over, but nothing for me. I'll have to have a word with him.

I believe his name was Dan Schoot or something like that? I have his card at work. Dark hair and glasses, kinda reminded me of the guy that played the insane guy for two episodes of the drew carey show? LOL.
Maybe thats why I'm testing out all three sets, he just wants to win me over? You're already won over, he doesn't have to work on you, LOL.

any word yet on the tests matt? how does the "mag lite" feature work with those lightforce lights, ie twisting to make pencil to flood beam? oh also did you get the infared filter for the lights? does it work well? i've got an infared camcorder and that would be sweet if it worked. see everything like daylight. thanks.

not yet, still waiting unfortunately... I"ll let you know once the results are in, heh heh

Honestly,

I wasn't as impressed with the "maglight" feature as I thought I would be. You can only turn it a few times till you expose the O-rings. Don't really want those in the open. The wide angle lens though allowed the beam to be spread BIG TIME. That's the only lens I'll run now.

that's kool about the wide angle lens. i didn't know if it was something that was too good to be true or not. do you have any experience with the infared lens leebo?

Check out the LightForce USA thread. I've got pics there showing the light with no wide angle lens, and with. LightForce allows you to "custom" your light. Alot of the PreRunners won't use the wide angle. They want the light to be shining down the road since they're running at high speeds. With slow trail running and rock crawling people use the wide angle to help see in front of them. I've never used the infred lens, but I am looking at getting another set and running a yellow fog lens. Helps cut through the dirt that occurs on the trail. Matt... if ya stay with Piaa, give me a yell. I've got the cash ready.
