I haven't actually spent any time driving it yet, but the engine was the least of my concerns when we were taking test drives a few months ago.

I spent a fair bit of time fooling around with the Sync stuff. One thing I came across that just seemed colossally stupid: I tried getting the Explorer linked up to my house's wifi network, which has a password. The Sync gave me the option of entering a password. So far so good. I attempted to enter the password. 3 characters before I finished entering the password, all of the letters greyed out, meaning I couldn't enter any more. It seems that there is some inexplicable password length limit for connecting to wifi.

Other than that, we're still getting used to it. The seats seem very comfortable, which was one of my biggest concerns; my wife and I are both pretty tall and her RX330 seats were awful. She seems to love it, though, and that's what counts.

Now that we have it I need to install the HIDs I bought, and hardwire the radar detector.

Which HID's did you get?

When I had mine for a weekend test drive I also attempted to connect to my wifi having the same problem. Reading this forum I gather it does not do much when connected anyway. When mine is finally build and delivered I'd also like to do the HID conversion so what did you go with?

Let me know how the install goes. I'm not very handy so i'm not sure if I could do this myself. Only mod I ever did was put a K&N air filter in my vehicles. I did it but it took me 4 beers instead of the 2 it took the other people.

Haha, will do. I'm a lot like you...simple jobs around the house end up taking me all day long, 4 trips to Home Depot, and lots of swearing. But this looks pretty straightfoward. I'll try to document it and let you know how it goes.

Those grayed out letters where a glitch in the last MFT update. They used to be there until the last update, seems they never fixed it. Don't worry it doesn't do anything anyway....if it updated your truck while sitting in the driveway connected would be awesome but not happening.

Since 2011 I've been wondering why they even bothered with the wifi hookup; it's done nothing for me....

Enjoy your new ride - in addition to being comfortable for us taller owners, it can be a blast on the street!
