Hi all,

Possible new FPIU owner here. I owned a P71 Vic about a year ago and sold it as I no longer needed the car. Now I've had a need to start hauling lots of equipment around (my Jetta is nice but unfortunately doesn't always fit the bill) and I miss being a member of the Interceptor fam so I'm back. I'm eyeing a potential FPIU, 2017, 60k miles, seller is a couple states away and is asking 16k. I've asked for engine hours and haven't heard back yet, they're probably asleep by now lol. The car is in pretty good shape externally. Would you say this is a fair price to be asking?

Also, I'm new to PIUs but not Vics, I'm pretty well mechanically/electrically inclined so I was able to fix a lot of issues on my old Vic but I know next to nothing about the PIUs. What sort of things should I look for besides the standard ex-cop stuff (hours, holes, wear/tear)? I've heard about the fatal water pump and I plan to replace it at around 100k pre-emptively, just judging based off what I have heard/seen on the internet. But besides that I know very little about the FPIUs and any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum.
Here is a general checklist for the retail unit which may also apply in part to the PIU.
I would be surprised if it didn't have the bubbling issue on the leading edge of the hood.

I’ve had mine for a day now and really like it. Nice space inside. I got the twin turbo model, but I have a 2014 Taurus with the 3.7l engine. I’ve had it for about 3 years and only changed the oil. Great engines. For that year, and mileage, I think it’s a fair price as long as there aren’t any issues or accidents on the carfax.
