After seeing the bumper protector, I've planned on getting one for my soon-to-arrive Ex. I was originally going to do a body-match coat on it, but it seemed kinda silly. As I've ordered the polished stainless bull bar and nerf bars, I think a chrome finish would look pretty awesome. My only concern is the durability of a chrome paint and if it would be safe to apply before affixing the protector to the vehicle or if I should affix first, then mask of the rear of the vehicle? If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum and congrats and your purchase. It's your truck and you can certainly do what you like, but I would personally advise against it. Too much chrome will very quickly look tacky and overdone. A bumper protector is best left black IMO. It's there to take a beating so your paint won't have to. Therefore painting it seems counter productive and I think would look beat up and flaky after a while and just be an eyesore.

I've thought about that, but it should be able to stand up to standard wear-and-tear. The only purpose of it is to protect with my 60lb shepherd mix jumping in the back and he'll likely hardly ever touch it. It's essentially the same as painting a front bumper. Regarding leaving it black, I plan on body-matching the trim, so the black bumper protector would be the only black on the vehicle and I'm not crazy about that idea. It should compliment the back as well as the polished stainless nerf/bull bars compliment the sides and front of the white platinum ex.

Welcome to the forum, I too have a white plat. Ex, chrome nerfs and a black bumper protector, looks sharp.

Thanks I've been posting on here for about 4 weeks now lol. Yeah, if I left the trim black, I wouldn't make any changes to the bumper protector. With a body-matched trim, however, I feel like that black protector will stick out like a sore thumb.

To each his own, but I think a chrome bumper protector would look tacky as someone has already said. I have 75lbs shepherd and a 100+ pound Doberman and they would scratch that paint off in no time.

The black windows (and lower black trim for now) will set off the black bumper protector. Chrome would look ok, since the chrome trim would set off the painted cover.

The spray paint will look like a spray painted trim strip stuck on a $50,000 vehicle. I wouldn't do it. It's not going to look as good as you're hoping it will.

I'll go clear when I get it done. Like the clear 3m bumper protector. It would be the toughest or thickest thing around but I don't have any +100lb dogs.

Thanks guys. I don't have any personal experience with chrome spray. I'll take your word it'll look s--tty lol. Yeah, I'm going to look into what kinda hard clear appliqué options I can find, otherwise, didn't even think about it matching the windows lol. I do appreciate all of the input. It changed my mind lol.
