I recently bought a 7 inch lcd flat screen and a ps2 to put in my car. I was wondering what other parts I need to get in order to hook it up to my factory head unit inorder to have the sound run through the car speakers. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It all depends on what you have for a head unit. Whether or not you have any audio inputs. Chances are that you don't have any, but let me know what you have.

I have the factory head unit that came with my 99 Sport, its the premium sound system. I dont think it has any inputs.

I'm not an expert at a/v, but I think that you are going to have to upgrade your radio. Your best bet is to go to a local car audio shop and ask them for some advice. They should be able to lead you in the right direction.

What brand of screen did you get?

I havent bought a screen yet, do you have any recomendations, I dont want one that has built in speakers though, i want it to run through my car stereo

Clarion and Santeca are the best. bottom line. they have the clearest picture and the widest viewing areas both up/down and right/left. also they last much longer and are less likely of a burnt in static image. they are definately worth it. do things right the first time and save some money.

hey leenjen go to mysporttrac.com , message boards and get swap and sell . check out the 5.4" tv or whatever, is that a quality one to you? its only 130 bucks, i think i like that one, i plan on using the upper din of my radio since i have a alpine and putting a psx or dvd player in the center console

reactor is a very low quality brand. they also make cheap amps and subs. you can find the exact same 5.6" screen on ebay for about $70 if you just want something cheap. although i would still stay away from reactor. if you want a cheap screen try for jensen or even pyle (i know... pyle sucks, but not as bad as reactor)

The factoiry stereo doesnt have any inputs, so you'd need to get an FM modulator to get sound through the factory radio.

I didn't even think of using an FM modulator. Good call. :)

ehh...didnt u say in the first post that you bought a 7in screen?

Let's look at something here for a Sec:

-FM MODULATOR-

I wanted to point out that FM modulators won't give the sound quality that you might want from your PS2. There is a MUCH BETTER alternative. ;) Check this out:

Not sure if you've heard of these guys or not, but AudioControl makes some GOOD "Audio Controllable" devices. I personally purchased the AudioControl Four.1. and this device kicks some serious butt. Here's why: It has AUXILIARY INPUTS, which means, you can plug in some separate audio RCA Cables from another device (PSX, Neo MP3 Player, Nintendo, Video/DVD, etc.) and you can switch back and forth via the switch on the front of the Four.1 that says "AUX."

Not only does this allow you the ability to hook up multiple devices, but you can also CONTROL the audio(subs, mids, and highs) to a pretty good extent.

FM Modulators will not give the kind of quality that something hooked up via RCA's and cables can produce. I am controlling my subs this way and I plan to add some type of AUXILIARY device such as a VCR, DVD, Nintendo, or PSX, but I'm not quite sure yet, which. ;)

Well, I hope this helped out a little, and good luck on choosing where to go next.

youre right about the FM modulator not providing the best sound qualityI have one for my TV/VCR and its sucks, but its relatively cheap. But will the audiocontrol device allow him inputs into his factory stereo? I have an audio control epicenter and its GREAT. They have some very good products.

If I'm following you right, are you referring to if the AudioControl Four.1 has INPUTS for the Main Headunit? If so, then the ansewr is yes. Looking at the back of my AudioControl Four.1, it has:
Main Input (L + R channel / 2-RCA plugs)
Aux Input (L + R channel / 2-RCA plugs)
Front Output (L + R channel / 2-RCA plugs)
Rear Output (L + R channel / 2-RCA plugs)

So all together, the Four.1 has 8-RCA plugs on the back of it. The wiring for it (to power it) is as follows:
1.) Remote
2.) Power
3.) Ground
4.) Illumination

Hope this helps out,

-Mike
