please explain Explorer braking/master cylinder

If a line to one of the 4 wheels should brakes. Will the reservoir empty out totally and you would lose all breaking if you would continue to us the brakes.

The old master cylinders had 2 separate reservoirs, how is it set up on a 1996 explorer

The reservoir is split internally into two reservoirs. One serves the front discs and the other serves the rears. If you break one line, you will lose both brakes on that end of the vehicle but the other two will continue to work.
 






Correct. A dual-chamber master cylinder has been standard on all vehicles for 25+ years. If it's a front line that goes, the rear brakes are about useless, but it's better than nothing at all...
