Hi,
New here and found your forum trying to diagnose my 1998 explorer sport. About three weeks ago I was driving down the interstate about 55 mph and the thing started acting like I had a flat tire. I stopped and no flat so I started driving again the problem got worse and was pulling to the left really hard. When turning left I heard a loud popping sound coming from under the hood. I pulled it into a friends shop that was in the area and we lifted the front end up and checked everything out. No play in the bearings and CV shafts and front end parts all look tight. So my buddy wanted to drive it. While backing out of the shop there was a loud pop front the right/front of the truck. He noticed the shimmy driving around the parking lot. It was the end of the day, so we decided to drive it back to his house and plug it in to see if there were any codes for ABS or ? Drove to his house and it drove perfectly. No codes were logged. Today, it started again. Driving at 35mph the steering wheel would jerk to the left every couple seconds or so. I was told by one, they thought I had a hub that was locking in. So I pulled over and locked it in 4 hi. drove and its the same. I am really uneducated on these things and would appreciate any help you all could give. Thanks, Brian
PS. The week before this all started it snowed and was icy here and I used the 4 wheel drive the entire week on and off.
