Hi All

I Have a 2004 explorer with 87.000 on it . I am having squeaking noises coming from the front wheels but the problem is that the sound doesn't happen when i just start drive the car , it will have to be if I drive for a while and then I will hear it on bumps, break on red lights and even if get down and try to put pressure on the top of the hood by the front side... please help me what should I do????

My second problem is that lately when I slow down looking for parking I hear a clicking noise that's comming from the back right wheel. The weird part about it it stops when I speed up and even funnier I will have to be driving for a while before that happens ...it doesn't happen when I first run my car in the morning or even driving an half an hour later....

Please tell me if you can help me with a suugestion to get the mecanic on the right track....

thanks all in Advance.

I will answer the easy one. The front end squeaking is the sway bar bushings. Spray some WD40 on them see if it stops. If that's it replace them, cheap and easy.

yup, i dont' have a 3rd generation, but i know it's the bushings. like he said, wd40 or spend a few minutes replacing them.

Now for the other easy one...your ebrake shoe lining has come off it's backing plate and is bouncing around inside your rear rotor and causes the clicking sound when moving slowly. Had this happen to my 03.

Also, I sprayed lithium grease (comes in an aerosal can) into my front sway bar bushings to quiet the front end squeak over bumps--lasts longer than WD-40

Never understood greasing them :( its a $20 part and takes 15-20min to change them, you don't even have to take the wheel off.

It happens everywhere. Where I work we call it a mechanic in a can...Its easier for someone to spray a bunch of grease or lube on something then fix it right...

My 02 has squeeked since it was new

My 02 has started squeaking from the front passanger side wheel when I slow down. What would the possible cause of that be?

Hi Guys,

Can anyone post a picture of these "sway bar bushings" from a 3rd Gen Ex.

Thanks

Andrew

Yeah, picture! Or some part numbers?

Thanks!

Mine is doing the same thing. thanks I'll check this.

I had mine replaced and the paperwork is at him (I am at the office now) I will post the part numbers but sorry no pics. Also, they ARE cheap and easy to replace... dont spray them. and Cproko1... yes this is the problem, when you break it will cause the squeek, I noticed it alot when I was pulling into a parking lot.
