98 explore
ok guys, I need your help. I bought this 98 explore sprt for my wife six montsh ago. It is a awesome truck, but ever since we had it the Theft light blinks, but as soon as I start the car it turns off. What is going on how do I stop it or is this normal.

Also I tried to get a spare key, but they say the key has a chip in it so I have to get a spare from ford. Is this true.

The light is normal. Not sure about the key, but it's probably true as well.

keng, if you don't want to buy it online, check out the local hardware stores. The True Value I worked at for 5 years carried all the Japanese/American PATS keys and could duplicate and program them in the store. They went for $24.99 programmed, which is a lot less then the $50+ many dealers charge.

Yep your theft system is working as it should, the light blinking is another deterrant for theives. Def check out ebay and maybe even the hardware stores before going to a dealer.

Hey, you guys are awesome, thanks for you help. That is what makes this such a great site, everyone willing to help out each other. I willl try true value and ebay for keys. take care guys. ken
