well here is the deal. as some of you may know my 93 was totaled last weekend and i need to find a new source of transportation. now heres my problem...i dont know which one to get? i have three choices right now unless something else comes along in the very near future

1. 93' Eddie Bauer 4x4 for ~$5,500 with 81,000 miles

2. 98' v8 XLT AWD ~$10,000-11,000 (depending on negotation) with 33,000 miles on it

3. 2001 Taurus with very low mileage for 6k

4. Something else

now here is my situation. im in college and i only drive on the weekends so gas mileage isn't an issue really (btw in my old 93' i never got better then 12mpg). should I spend more and get the newer one since it will last alot longer then the 93' or should i get the 93 and hope it lasts? also, im leaning more towards the 98' for its dual airbags and ABS vs. the 93's nothing. I dont know if i would feel safe in the taurus after being sandwiched between two trucks but the taurus is suppose to be the #1 safest car in whichever division. I will be using the new truck for some hauling trips up to the elk mountins in PA so i think that makes me stray more away from the taurus. The only thing i dont like abou the 98' is the trim package since im used to the goodness of my Eddie Bauer but id love to have the sunroof and trip computer and such but you cant have everything. I know im being picky but i want to be since this will probobally (and hopefully) last car i will have to buy for the next 7 years so I want to make a good choice. I've loved explorers since 4th grade and i would love to stay with them since they are amazing vehicles. Please share any input you guys have. Thanks alot!

Dude.. the '98 AWD! How can this even be in question?? Plus, a Taurus?? C'mon. I hope your friend snuck on and wrote that as a joke or somethin... :D

Get the '98. Newer, better, faster, more reliable, V8!

98 awd for $10? omg.. go for that.. and only 33k? jeez.. thats a bargain.. get it.. use it for a bit.. if u find somethin better.. trade it in cus itz worth more than 10 if itz in good condition.. 5.0 awd are def worth it

hahaha :banghead:

Absolutely no question - get the 98.

I'm voting for the '98.

The '93 will have way too many problems pop up on you right now.

And the Taurus, well, is a Taurus :p

whatever you do don't buy a taurus!

A 98 V8 AWD with only 33,000 miles? Are you crazy??!! There should be no question. GET IT!! Have it checked out first, but I would hop on it.

You should drive up here for 10k you could get a 2000 at least, Prob 25,000mi. The 2002's v-8's with 15,000mi are going for 13000. They are so cheap it makes me sick.:(

For that price get the 98. The 93 is more fun to play with but you can't beat that price for the 98. :)

I know this won't be popular - but if you can buy a 01 taurus w/ under 50k for $6K, jump on it. At the very least you should be able to flip it for around $8K, which would then allow you to buy the 93 for $3500.

just my .02$

likuid

98!

ludashatesreese,

do you have a stuttering problem?

peter

go for the v8

dude, I wrote off my 93 2 weeks ago and am deciding between a 98 limited and a 93. I swear!. That is messed up!!

PS:Im leaning for the 98 (SOHC)

Go with the 98 and don't look back. Any time you can go 5 years newer, and up a generation and still be in your price range, go for it. It should last you longer.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

haha so much for the 93 huh?
well im going to give the 98 a test drive tomrrow and if all goes well, I should have it for 12K.....cant wait!!

I should have it for 12K
What happened to
98' v8 XLT AWD ~$10,000-11,000
? ;) The car salesman called me with 3 or 4 offers before I bought my truck. After the first he said he absolutely couldn't go any lower:p Don't give in too easy.
