hey gang, just joined, I purchased a 1997 ford explorer 5.0 v8, for pretty much nothing, the guy tol me that it will not stay on unless he uplugs the maf, so i decided to buy it as a project, when i got home i when ahead and purchased a maf, iac, tps and installed them, the truck starts fine but as soon as i give it gas it boggs down, i have to take of slowly to drive the vehicle, after that on the highway is fine, unless i want to pass some one it boggs down again, any ideas. thanks just joined got recommended from f150online, also own a ford expedition.:exp:

Fresh gas always helps if it has been sitting awhile. Definitely sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Change your fuel filter and if that doesnt help check your fuel pump connections and fuel pressure. If the fuel pressure is low replace the fuel pump. I have a fuel filter how to vid in the link in my signature if you dont know how to change it.

thanks for the reply, changed the fuel filter but still doing the same, much better but still get the bogging down when you punch it all of sudden, i really like this truck dont want to junk it or get rid of it, any more ideas, can it be in the coil packs??

Check the fuel pressure.

The inside of the tank can fill with deposits if the vehicle sat. You might need to drop the tank and clean it out. Test the fuel pressure and get back with us.
