OK, here's the scoop:

I have a '94 Sport with a manual tranny & 4WD. The front diff seal is leaking like a sieve. I went to Ford to get the seal (no one has it in the auto parts stores) and they asked me what gear ratio I had in it. Well, I asked how I could find out, and they said it was under the truck somewhere on the diff or shafts. Well, it wasn't. So, I went back to Ford and I figured that I would get the lower of the two ratios (I figured the taller gear would be for an auto) and they had FIVE DIFFERENT CHOICES OF RATIOS, up to 4.10. How do I figure it out if you don't have the tag/sticker under the truck? Should I just pull the damned seal and take it with me? Anything I need to know about this?

There is a code on the drivers door for the gear ratio.
