152k wires on it now are oem, and are stamped 1999 on them , chances are they are original, no idea on the plugs, i know the previous owner and he bought it with 100k and never did anything that wasnt "Needed"
so maybe the plugs are original also, if not they have at least 52k on them.
i know people say to get OEM wires, and rock auto seems to have the best price that i can find, but i still have a hard time grasping the fact of spending $100+ on a set of wires
is there a god alternative? or do i just man up and pull the trigger?

and the plugs, just get OEM ones? whats the gap to be set at?

i just did a fuel filter 1k ago, it had never been changed as far as i could tell

opinions please?

$100?? I just got a set of 6 bosch wires for 33 at rockauto :D

And I just have autolite platinum plugs...

The consensus on wires it stick with motorcraft unless you want to devise your own heat shields. As far as plugs motorcraft is always good, but the 5.0 isn't as tempermental as the 4.0 with plugs, so as long as its not Bosch you shouldnt have any issues.

yes, rock auto is $127 for motorcraft wires for the 5.0

I paid 88 for plugs and wires. And my new wires have heat shields on them. I also used the stock ones on the other 2 I thought was necessary.

Lots of members here suggest Autolite Professional wire. I just changed it this past month. So far so good. I am not sure how different is for the wiring of the wire, it was a pain for getting my 98 V5 stock wires off. Plan about 3 hours if this is first time to do it.

Oh, by the way, Autolite professional wire has $5 rebate right now.

I woldn't use Motorcraft spark plugs. Not after three of them broke off when I did try to replace them on my 5.0L (rusted). I did replace them with iridium Autolite XP104 and they work without problems.

thanks thus far, i pulled a plug out of being curious, i would bet it has never been changed!!
.083 is that the gap was and it was not hardly finger tight

If you go with Autolite plugs and wires, don't forget to send for the rebates.

You don't have to buy from RockAuto to get these rebates - I bought mine at Advance (with 40% off coupon codes). Rebate checks came this week.

THANKS, looks like advacnce has the professional pwires in stock,
how do i go about the rebate?
the nink dosent provide me with any form to fill out, it just directs me back to the listing?

what plugs would be best? and what gap should i run? (i would immagine anything smaller than .083 should do the trick:D )

thats badass coupon, i ordered the professional champion wires, and the motorcraft fine wire or whatever they are called oe replacement plugs
paid with paypal, and will pick up in store tomorrow
all of it was $74 after the $30 coupon code
