Ok after work I went out to leave and the explorer (93) turned over and idled high like 1500-2000 and then started to die and then almost backfired.

Then I tried to restart and it wouldn't idle. Opened the hood and two vacc. hoses had blown out of the rubber boots on the vacc. tree.

What would cause this and should I be alarmed? Never done this before.

Secondly, it has the auto tranny in it and it seemed to rev higher than before, until it finally changed gears. I stopped for gas on the way home and now it seems to shift ok.

Any ideas what I need to check?

DD and no budget for new vehicle or big repairs.

Thanks,

Hope you guys can help.

Brett

Its the modulator in the tranny. Should cost around $100 to have a shop replace it and service the tranny. The vacuum lines suck up the tranny fluid and it softens them up and they blow off.
