Ive been noticing a lack of power, what feels like sliping (but im not sure what that feels like), its very hesitant. The fluid is black and nasty smelling, im assuming burnt, and the pan has a small fluid leak. The o/d light is not flashing though. I think its the valvue body gasket. Thanks!

You should fill in your vehiicle specs...no freaking way to tell which transmission or engine you have.

im sorry i figured it would be posted automatically. Its the v6 4.0 with the 5r55e Transmission. Thanks

tanrog, I don't think the slipping w/ burnt fluid is going to be as simple as a blown VB gasket. I believe shift flaring and possibly reverse engagement issues point to a blown VB gasket. Have you looked around in the transmission sub-forum? There is a lot of info on VBs in there, and some very experienced members too. Check it out.

i appreciate the reply i will certainly do that.

If the ATF is burnt and smells like crap then chances are your clutch packs are burnt. You will wake up one morning and the trans wont go into drive I'm guessing. How many miles on the truck?
