I have a stock '94 sport with 30x9.5x15 Dunlop MudRovers and I wheel it through situations on a regular basis that are far beyond its capabilitys for such a modest set up.The problem that I seem to have can be described as a mild grinding noise accompanied by apparent loss of hub lock when in extreme situations or immediately after engaging 4 wheel low.The noise and slip occur followed by a drive train shock load when it seems to re-engage.The infamous fragility of stock hubs leads me to belive that along with my suspension lift, regearing and 33's that I have planned as this winters project,I should also invest in manual locking hubs.Is my assessment of this problem accurate,or am I way off base.I had a friend who is somewhat more mechanically inclined than myself ,suggest that it may be a spyder gear problem in the front diff or perhaps a transfer case problem.I remain wondering if my own diagnosis is the more likely.Has anyone experienced this same scenerio?
