I have a 98' AWD 5.0 w/140,000 miles, stock, the story is as I pull away from a stop, there is a clunk, then another and another, pretty much I think my tranny is going, its a 4LE80 out of the ford truck 4-speed overdrive,, but also I was reading around and it could be the clutch in the t-case. I can drive the car fine, if I keep it under 2K RPM, and as Im driving, I can feel something bind up in the front end then something slips and makes the clunk, I pray its the T-case, it would save me so much money and headache, Im a college student, so you how the story goes, anyway I need some feedback, ideas, anything.

Pull the front drive shaft and see if the clunking goes away. THE TRUCK WILL ROLL IN PARK WITH THAT DRIVE SHAFT OFF so be careful. If the clunk goes away I would bet it's that clutch in the T.C. Same thing happened to me.
