Looking for advice- my 92 Ex recently overheated (did not redline). It was the water pump. I have replaced the water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, fan blade and took it in to have the system flushed. Now everything is cooling itself properly. Since this, I have noticed a little loss of power and some stickiness when shifting (5-speed manual). Is there anything else I can do to keep my Ex going for a while yet?

Should I have the transmission flushed or just empty & refill? Type & brand of fluid recommended?

IMO you have done the obvious stuff.

Keep an eye out for leaks off the block. Depending on the vagaries of the OHV Gods, problems may show in:

1. Valve cover oil leak - easy fix
2. Head gasket leak - PIA - look for oil in water; water in oil, white steam in exhaust.
3. Cracked head - Expensive PIA - usually discovered when changing headgasket.

If car is working - you're golden

I appreciate the info so far.
It runs ok. No coolant in oil/oil in coolant. I do have some white smoke on cold starts and when it's been running a while, shut it off for a few minutes and start it, there seems to be more of a cloud of smoke that comes out. I do not see any coolant leaking out. Smoke seems to go away when engine get warm. Bad head gasket? I'm hoping it's not a cracked head! This Ex has been in the family a while & I'd like to keep it at least a few more years. Any other suggestions/recommendations?

flsuhing the gear box oil couldnt hurt.

And a good flush of coolant to get any that lost its anti-corrosive properties due to boiling.
