Post TEXplorers Slabs Run 1/27/01

Just got off the phone with the female photographer from the Kingsland Courier, that was at the scene. They are going to be releasing the article in this weeks paper. She was asking questions about our club, but I was hesitant to give out any information, for fear of negative publicity. When I asked about the article she says the title was gonna run as "Watch out for slick roads", or something like that. Once I get the copy of the paper I will post it, or if you would like to recieve a copy, you can call her at, Kingsland Courier, 830-693-7152.

Well the Navajo is well on its to recovery. Most of the parts have been ordered for the Repair. The New parts from Mazda were Expensive. The Hood can be fixed. Mazda recycling had a good Black Fender. So things are looking up.

Brian - I just dealt with that problem!

Did you get a Check Engine Light? If so, read the codes! You may have lost the O2 sensors..

I'd check the fuel pressure before replacing the FPR. You'll probably have to replace your O2's also. They are very easily contaimated.

Kris - What parts did you have to get new? The grill? Did you know it's may also have a clear coat on it? I couldn't believe that when I had mine fixed a few years ago..

I ordered a new grill and inner grill... the inner grill cost an arm and a leg. the grill itself was 150.00 and the inner grill was 300.00 and a new side marker for 60.00

New parts are Expensive.

Kris Good luck on your fix. Thanks TDavis! I went ahead and just took the beast to the Ford house here in dallas. They will check everything out for me. I will fill you guys in! I know some of you with digital cameras took more photos than that! Where are they? :)

Kris, Mav, I hope you are both feeling OK. Like Rob says, trucks can be replaced (as can caddies). I hope the Caddy driver is doing OK as well.

It looks like Kris is already on the road to repair, with all the parts being offered, along with those ordered from Mazda. If I had anything that would fit, I'd offer it as well.

Brian, you're definately running rich, either too much gas or not enough air. Anyway, since you're letting Ford look at it, its pretty much moot.

I hope to see some of you at least in Moab.

Thanks for the reply Tom. Ford called me last night and said I was getting codes on my throttle body position sensor and my 1 year old JET mass air flow sensor. They wanted 60.00 bucks each part in labor to put these on. I told him I am more than happy to order these parts from him but there is no way in H@$ that I am going to pay him that much in labor for something I have done myself in five minutes. Anyways, he is going to knock the labor off for me. Hopefully they will get this done and no more codes will come up.

Well I didnt get as many good photos as I thought I had. Here are a couple of my Green Beast at a water crossing.

Hey guys,
Sorry it took me so long to join the conversation... First off, I hope Kris is doing ok, and I really appreciate everyones help and support! :) I'll be taking to my lawyer this week, to determine how I should handle this whole thing. I read through the post, but I don't think anyone has explained exactly what happened. The caddy was in front (behind Brian I think?), I was behind the caddy, and Kris was behind me. The driver of the caddy was trying to figure out where he was supposed to turn. He lightly applied his brakes, as if he's getting ready to turn... I also lightly applied my brakes, to match his reduced speed... The driver has still not signaled a turn... Then, after passing the intersection the caddy continues to slow down... I applied the brakes as hard as I could... The vehicle begins to slide... I cut the wheel to the right as far as I can, hoping the wheel will catch... The close I get to the caddy, the slower it's moving... Finally, the instant before I impact with him the caddy is completely stop with the brakes applied... The guy gets out of the car and says, "I say ya comin' up fast behind me, so I stop!" Wow, give this guy a freakin' award for this incredible display of intelligence. "I saw ya comin' up fast behind me, so I stopped!" :banghead: Let's think about this for just a minute... It might have made more sense if he just would have said, "Hi, I'm ignorant! I know I didn't signal, and I know I missed my turn, but I just wanted to appologized for acting stupid and coming to a complete stop in the middle of the road." At least then I would have believed him... :frustrate

Yes Mav, The caddy was behind me. I also have a bunch of regular photos I can send you if you need them. Let me know! Glad you and kris are okay! I did finally get to use my police lights up front and the police didnt say anything about them. Yea! Yea!

Yea, I saw those when you turned around and came back... Where did you get the relay or whatever it is from? Do you have a digital camera? If so could you email the pics to me (wulmer@satx.rr.com)? I've got a cable modem, so downloading alot is not a problem. I'm actually trying to get ahold of Bowtie (the one with the brown lifted K5 with the Warn X9000i on front) right now so I can get a copy of the two K5's and myself pulling Jesse's (it was Jesse right?) hydrolocked Exploder out of the river. His wife got the whole thing on tape! :)

Mav! I ordered them from http://www.galls.com Pretty fun. the pictures I have from the wreck are on my regular camera and not my digital. Just let me know if you need any more photos.
