power door lock question--HELP!!!

hi, guys and gals--i'm stuck in a quandry--the passenger door of my '99 sport will not open with either 'unlock' nor key--so how the hell do i get it open to remove the door panel and diagnose the problem??
will disconnecting the battery allow me to open the door with key? (yea, i know i should have tried that already...)

you should be able to pull on the handle from the inside and it will automatically unlock the door to open it. If not you need to remove the door handle in the vehicle and pull or push on the rod that the handle hooks to thus unlocking the door and opening it.

hi, morbid. tried everything, trust me. pretty sure panel needs to be removed in order to remove that interior door handle--and, like i said, you need the door open in order to remove that panel... catch 22... i'm gonna get it open one way or another today--dreamed last night i did get it open, but it unlocked in the dream--didn't require any effort. **** don't work that way in waking life, though. wish me luck!!

The door handle can be removed without removing the panel its a bit tricker to do but it can be done there is a video on youtube on how to do it on a explorer.

thanks, morbid. yea, it opened up just like in my dream--and then my husband decided to lock it again... alas. well, i will try the screw on the handle and see if i can't figure it out--then, probably to youtube. thanks again.
